How to Add $40,000 to Your Welcome Flow in 10 Minutes

Yesterday I’m at home making a sandwich.
I’ve recently been on a big kick of putting pickled jalapeños on EVERYTHING.
As I finish off another jar of pickled jalapeños, I hand the jar to my son Max and tell him to toss it.
He took my words literally and ran over and slammed it into the trash with two hands.
It makes this huge crash.
My first instinct is to go full dad mode,
“Hey, don’t throw it!”
But then it triggers this memory.
One I hadn’t thought about in years…
*queue the flashback sound effect*
I was in 5th grade school back in Boulder, and our class took a field trip to the local recycling plant.
Cuz that’s what you do in Boulder.
They walked us through the whole process, showing us how everything gets sorted and reused.
Very educational. Very responsible.
But then me and my best friend Kyle wandered off.
We found this giant metal container where people dumped all their glass bottles.
And we’re standing there, peeking in, when Kyle picks up a bottle, looks at me, and goes
“Hey Ben, check this out. Go long Shannon Sharpe!”
He winds up like John Elway and launches the bottle into the back of the bin.
Glass explodes everywhere.
We both start dying laughing.
So I grab a bottle. He grabs another.
And next thing you know, we’re running a full two-minute drill.
Hurling bottles into the back of this dumpster like we’re leading the Broncos down the field for a game winning Super Bowl drive.

Elway would be proud.
Of course, a teacher hears it.
Storms over.
Loses their mind.
We spent the rest of the field trip sitting on the bus.
But man, we had the best time.
We were turning trash into touchdowns.
And as dumb as it sounds, that’s exactly what you can do with your emails.
Want to add $40,000 to your email revenue this year?
You can do it in the next 10 minutes. Seriously.
This is one of my favorite “hacks”.
And you don’t need to write anything new.
Check it out.
Your welcome series is your best way to turn a new subscriber into a paying customer.
It’s almost always the top revenue-generating flow in any Klaviyo account.
But if your welcome flow only has like two or three emails, you’re absolutely leaving cash on the table.
That’s why I like to aim for 5 to 7 emails in the welcome flow.
Now here’s the trick.
A few months ago, I was working with a client who had a solid 5-email welcome flow.
But I noticed something: the last email in the flow was still converting at 0.3%.
That told me we weren’t done. People were still buying.
So I looked at their last 90 days of email campaigns and pulled the two top based on conversion rate that weren’t promos or holiday related.
Then we dropped those two emails into the welcome flow.

This took 10 mins of work
Spaced them out by a few days.
Added a callout banner with the discount at the top of the email so it couldn’t be missed.

Don’t forget to add the discount code
And just like that…
…those two emails now bring in on extra $3,500/month in revenue.
That’s over $40,000 a year. All from 10 minutes of work.
So stop reading this. Go into Klaviyo RIGHT NOW.
Pull your best evergreen campaigns.
Drop them into the welcome flow.
Then crack open a cold beverage and kick your feet up.
You earned it.
Got something you’d like me to talk about? Reply to this email, I do my best to reply to them all.
