[Case Study] How We Increased Email Revenue By 43% in 30 Days (Without Running a Sale)

"What is this doing here???"

I picked up a broken beer bottle and looked at the house sound guy.

He just shrugged and went back to doom scrolling on Instagram.

I was standing on a stage at one of the hottest Brooklyn venues getting it ready for my friend, Shilpa Ray and her band, to play a sold out show.

But before I even let her get set up to sound check, I spent 45 minutes decluttering the stage Marie Kondo style.

Only after that stage was in pristine condition did I allow the band to set up.

They crushed it that night. (And of course you already know it sounded amazing.)

As we loaded their gear back into their van, Shilpa told me how awesome it was compared to their usual Brooklyn shows.

"Yeah...tonight just flowed so nice. It's so nice having the extra help."

One lesson I learned after five years of working with live bands that translates to agency work is simply caring about a client’s success is the difference that makes the difference.

I recently started working with a supplement brand that got burned by another email agency.

Funny how often that happens…

In our first 30 days working together we increased their email revenue by 42% month over month, almost $16K.

Not only that, but it was also their best email month of the entire year.

And we did without using monthly sales. (Like their old agency used).

Here’s exactly what we did.

The Breakdown

1. We Used Their Internal Knowledge

The old agency sent emails without having the marketing team check them. They didn't collaborate. They just ran their stock playbook.

We came in and asked questions. Listened to what their team actually knew about customers, products, and their market.

They had all the answers already.

We just tapped into it.

2. We Changed the Copywriting Strategy

This is where the real lift came from.

We stripped everything down to plain text emails (we noticed those converted way better).

We stopped writing short click-bait style emails designed to optimize click rate.

Instead, we wrote emails designed to pre-frame customers before they hit the landing page.

Every email focused on one thing: busting objections, social proof, and desired outcomes.

→ What questions are holding  them back from buying?
→ What will their life look like AFTER they use our products?
→ Why are other people happy to buy and use our products?

That's it.

Their team loved the emails, and they loved the results even more.

Why?

We came in as curious experts.

If your email and SMS have been half-assed by whoever's running them, it's time to talk.

Got something you’d like me to talk about? Reply to this email, I do my best to reply to them all.
